It looks and feels like it is time to head indoors and do some serious indoor cycling training. Every morning I get up and want to get a quick ride in. Unfortunately, I’m not a cold morning person. So that leaves me only a few options.
1. Go find a Computrainer that I can lease
2. Saddle up on my Cyclops and ride to a Indoor Cycling Training DVD video
My collection of cycling training DVDs includes: Urban Assault in Italy by Global Ride, TDF Climbing in France by Global Ride, POWER by Robbie Ventura, Hilly Hellecious by Spinnvals and coach Troy, and Time Trial training by Carmichael.
Some ask why so many….I reply I want some more. When you need to train and ride indoors everyday rotating thru several cycling training dvds is not a bad thing to do. Most of the cycling dvds are barely over an hour if that. I like to ride to a couple of cycling DVDs back to back. That way I’m on the trainer for 2 hours, sometimes even more.
You have to keep in mind that normal group rides on Saturday or Sunday can go for 2, 3 and 4 hours depending on the pace. Sitting on a trainer that long can get pretty BORING to say the least. Mixing up the cycling training dvds certainly helps.
I also like to mix up my workouts on the trainer. Some days I will start out with Assualt on Italy hill climbing 2 x 20 minute sessions, and follow it with the Power interval workout. The next day I might start out with Power intervals, and follow it with hill repeaters with Hilly Hellecious.
Now if you really want a long 2 hour sweat session, just ride to Assualt on Italy followed by TDF Climbing in France. Just remember to simulate the hills by using your gears, and raising your front wheel block up some. This is one of my favorites to do on a morning when I have 3 hours to spare for indoor cycling training.
Here is a sort video from TDF Climbing in France:
I have been browsing Ebay today looking for a few more cycling training DVDs to try out and review. Hopefully next week, I will have something to share with my readers.
Until then, I’m headed indoors to ride until it warms up outside. 🙁
