1st night of Indoor Computrainer cycling for the winter

We began our winter indoor cycling training on the computrainer last night. In total we had eight riders in the class. Our first ride was a 20 minute time trial to establish a threshold level in which the remaining 8 classes will be guaged from. We pretty much hammered down for 20 minutes and grabbed an average watt output. The intent of the training is to increase our watts over the course of eight weeks. So knowing our starting wattage point is key.

Training indoors during the winter time is my preferred method of winter cycling training. However, here lately, I have cowboyed up and rode on some pretty cold mornings. So needless to say, I was happy that the indoor cycling training class started. Riding on the computrainer is a great way to simulate the road. The computrainer courses allow you to feel the resistance when the grade changes. You are also forced to use your gears.

After each indoor cycling training class, we will run thru a series of leg and core excercises. Both body parts are crucial to building pedlle power. The leg excercises consists of a lot of squats, lunges, and step-ups. The core focuses on spinal alignment, ab work, and hip flexor excercises, all of which build strength and balance.

Next week, the ride part of the training will be longer. I certainly look forward to that.

That’s it for now, I’m off for a session of P90X workout.
